Pelican Point Seal & Sandwich Harbour – Full-Day Dune & Coast Adventure

Activity Description

Departure: 08:30 | Return: ±16:30
Includes: Pick-up & drop-off, park fees, light lunch, and local refreshments

Embark on a soul-stirring full-day adventure that captures the spirit of Namibia’s coast where desert, wildlife, and the Atlantic meet in a dance of wild beauty.

Your journey begins in Swakopmund as we head south past the quiet beach town of Long Beach and onward to Bird Island — famously known as Guano Island — where tens of thousands of pelicans, flamingos, and cormorants gather in a spectacle of colour and sound. From there, we continue into the heart of Walvis Bay.

Next stop: the internationally acclaimed Walvis Bay Lagoon — a Ramsar-listed wetland and birdwatcher's dream — home to over 300,000 birds and 54 species of migratory and resident waders. Witness flamingos wading in mirrored waters and salt pans shimmering in pastel hues as we drive past the vast Walvis Bay Salt Works and the enchanting Pink Salt Lakes.

Our dune drive begins in the !Nara Valley, an arid but life-filled landscape where you may spot oryx, springbok, and ostrich thriving among ancient dunes and seasonal greenery.

We then climb the towering dunes that make Sandwich Harbour legendary — where Namibia’s golden desert collides with the cold blue Atlantic in a scene so surreal, it feels like another planet. Breathe in the stillness. Soak in the majesty. Snap the photo of a lifetime.

In this untouched wilderness, we pause for a secluded beach lunch served with local beverages — a simple but heartfelt feast with one of the most breathtaking backdrops on Earth.

After lunch, the adventure continues along the coast as we trace the shoreline toward Pelican Point, home to the iconic lighthouse and a bustling colony of Cape Fur Seals. Watch them frolic in the surf or bask in the sun — their playful energy adds a joyful rhythm to the ocean breeze.

As the afternoon sun begins its descent, we journey back through the salt pans and along the beach to Swakopmund — your heart fuller, your camera heavier, and your soul stirred by Namibia’s coastal wonders.
